Lagavulin

Lagavulin, whose name stems from the Scots Gaelic "lag a'mhuilin", meaning "hollow by the mill" dates from 1816 with the construction of two distilleries in the location. By 1937, there was only one distillery left, one having taken over the other.

Lagavulin is known for taking its time to produce high quality whiskies. Not only using a slow initial distillation, the distillery's standard offering is the Lagavulin 16-year old, aged much longer than the industry standards.
