Olmeca

Olmeca Tequila launched in 1967, and unlike most tequilas, is produced using the Tahona method. this 500-year old traditional and artisanal production process involves slow cooking blue agave pinas before crushing them under a two tonne millstone made of a local volcanic rock called Tezontle. This extracts the sweet juice from the fibres, which is referred to as Tahona Liquid and is then used in the fermentation and distillation process.

Olmeca tequila is named after the first major civilisation in Mexico, the Olmec, noted for their crafting of Olmec colossal heads, the icons which now find themselves featured in the Olmec Tequila brand.
